Margie's Story

Meet our sweetest little nugget, Margie. This adorable 3-year-old was in a shelter, terrified and alone after she lost her puppies. Margie was so sad and so scared but after a few short weeks in foster care, she has started to come out of her shell.

Margie is the sweetest little pint size lady (45 pounds), with very soulful eyes and a smooth coat. Margie likes to lie in the grass and catch some sun. She loves to snuggle up to you on the sofa. Every now and then she’ll do a zoomie around the yard. Overall, she’s very chill. So sweet and gentle all the time.

Margie is crate trained but does not need a crate. She sleeps on a dog bed outside of the crate at night and is well-behaved when left alone. Margie is good with people and other dogs. Because of her smaller size and calm demeanor, we feel she will be good with kids too.

Margie is great on leash and she is good with cats! There are no barking or chewing issues with Margie although, she does jump occasionally. Margie has a fear of thunderstorms and needs a medication called Trazadone to help her through the storms. She trembles and pants during the worst part of the storm, then she’s fine. Margie does like to use that time to snuggle in bed with her foster parents to make her feel better (smart girl!)

Margie is very low maintenance but does have a curious streak. She has jumped a gate but did not run off. Margie enjoys walks very much. She is a bit of a Houdini and will sneak around and get out. She loves to go behind the bushes and she looks for openings or holes in the fence. She’s never run off so it seems that she’s just looking around and checking things out.

Margie will be available for adoption on, or after April 17th

If you are interested in Margie and are an approved adopter, please contact your Adoption Coordinator to be added to Margie’s list. If you are a not yet approved, you can find our adoption guidelines and application at: www.savealabrescue.org

Margie is fostered in RI
