Meet Marcy
Marcy is reddish-brown with white stockings and white on her chest and tip of her tail. She and her brother Murphy came to HART in May of this year from a shelter. Marcy is an 8 pound female Chihuahua and Dachshund mix that the vets estimate is about 2-3 years old.
Marcy loves people, kids often visit at the foster home. She is a little sassy when she meets a dogs for the first time for but very quickly assimilates to the dogs regardless of size. Marcy loves to play with other dogs and would like , especially her litter mate Murphy who is also available (!).
She needs a playmate to wrestle, she is a robust dog for her size, wrestles with a beagle mix that weighs 32 pounds. Given the opportunity she would spend a good part of her day playing with other dogs of any size, even gentle enough to play with 5 pound puppies at the foster home. She even like cats, only showing mild interest unless they play back and she'd probably play. She is a confident outgoing dog.
Marcy would do best with a fenced yard because she especially like roaming around and investigating everything and to playing with other dogs. She sleeps through the night, unless a significant noise awakens her. She does sleep in the bed with the foster with his other dogs. She rides well in the car. Marcy walks well but does pull some, but at 8 pounds is not hard to control.
Marcy goes into the crate easily with the promise of a treat and is usually quiet through the night. She is reliably crate trained and working on her house training. She would be a great dog for an active family.
