Marcelita's Story

Apply to Adopt Me!

Marcelita, affectionately known as Big Girl by her foster family (because all their other dogs are little) is a 5yo, 45lb. female hound mix. This precious girl came to our rescue from The Bahamas and is blind, having had her eyes removed due to painful glaucoma. Even though she is blind, she is just like the other dogs in her foster home. She navigates the house and yard with very little help. It is fun to watch her play the Mexican stand off dance in the house and yard. Her foster parents play the “I’m going to get you” game. Stuffies are her favorite toys. She is a pretty girl with a sleek black and brown coat. She is fully house trained and walks well on a leash. She also does well at grooming. Her temperament is laid-back, getting along with other dogs, and does very well around people, although a little shy at first. She is mild mannered and such a sweet dog. She lives in a quiet home with her four smaller fur siblings. Her favorite thing is to be with her family. She loves sleeping in her cushy bed with her blankets and pillows. She is definitely a couch potato. She goes outside to do her business with the other dogs and will let you know when she needs to go. She explores a bit when out, but prefers to be inside with the family. We are requesting a quiet home setting for her. She is afraid when storms pass. We have not seen her around cats, but since she can’t see them, they could easily get out of her way. Sudden noises also scare her so an all-adult home is a must. She answers to "BIG GIRL" or BIG ANGEL GIRL.” Big Girl has been with Lil Rascals going on two years, and she would love if someone would give her a chance to show them what a wonderful and special companion she is. She needs a single level home, a fenced back yard, no accessible-to-her pool, and an uncluttered household. If you live in Florida and believe you can offer Marcelita aka Big Girl her perfect forever home, please complete an app and tell us more about you. (Her adoption fee is sponsored.)
