Maple Syrup

Hi, I’m Maple Syrup (but I respond best to "Maple") and I’m as sweet as my name!<br/><br/>I love cuddling and bond with my people quickly, but I’m also very independent and can keep myself entertained with toys and naps. I do great around dogs I’m familiar with, though I need a little time to be calmly introduced and warm up to new friends. I can occasionally be a bit territorial over food, toys, or attention when other dogs are around, but I’ve been adjusting and have gotten much better at sharing.<br/><br/>I’m a pretty good walker on leash, with just a little pulling that can easily be fixed with training. I’m learning the command "sit" and I’m doing great! I keep getting better and better, so basic training would be needed- but I’m eager to learn, especially when treats are involved!<br/><br/>I’m very polite and have a goofy personality. I’m quiet on car rides, love hanging out with humans, and will gladly cuddle in bed if you allow me. I’ll also sleep in my crate when asked to. I’ve been great with free roaming at home alone and don’t chew on anything in the house (except my toys, which I lovingly destroy).<br/><br/>I do have a few health concerns, including being heartworm positive, but my treatment is underway and fully covered by Pet Alliance.<br/><br/>I’m such a sweet companion and very easygoing.
