Meet Mango

******Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************

We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog.

MANGO is a 50 lb, 2.5 yr old, neutered Bull Terrier mix who is currently in a foster home in Houston, TX. He can be transported once his adoption is approved!

Mango is a fun, sweet love bug who's searching for his forever home!
He loves cuddles on the couch where he can put your head on your legs or chest and just snooze on you. When not sitting at your feet while you cook, Mango loves to chew, zoom around with his plush toys and chase balls around the room. His love languages are touch and quality time.

Mango is a medium energy dog who is very good at entertaining himself with chews. His favorite game is fetch, which he plays at expert level which includes catching, bringing back, and releasing the ball gently in your hand. He's also a scholar and has completed obedience training. He knows "sit," "down," "paw," and "drop it."

Mango does not currently live in a home with other dogs but has met dogs on walks and does well. He can relax in their presence and wait patiently while the humans finish chatting and for the walk to resume. Typically, Mango ignores other dogs on walks but is certainly curious when the other dog seems excited to meet. He tends to match the other dogs' energy when he sees them on walks, but is not concerned with dogs that lunge or growl and chooses to ignore them. Otherwise, Mango is a calm walker and does not typically wander all over the place (unless the smell is REALLY good). He also keeps pace on short runs with his foster mom and seems to enjoy running with her.

Because he does not live with other dogs, Mango's play style was assessed by a trainer. He can be very excited to see other dogs and play with them off leash, and would do well slowly acclimatizing to other dogs in the home. He did well over time with gentle corrections and was better at picking up on ques as time went on while in his training assessment.

Mango is both crate and house trained. He currently sleeps in his crate, although we think he would love to have a home where he sleeps with you with his paws always touching, but, if not, he knows how to sleep quietly and peacefully in his crate until you let him out in the morning. He's crated when his mom is not home. He generally knows what dog toys are and doesn't try to play with household items. For exercise, he generally only asks for one walk a day and a game of fetch, but would benefit from two if you have the time.

Mango is fed in his crate to help create positive associations with it. He jumps for joy when his food comes out. He gobbles it up, so currently he's eating from a slow feeder.

We recommend a home with older kids for Mango, although we do not have a history with children. Currently, he sometimes likes to jump when excited, although he has shown some improvement in that regard. When he gets his zoomies, or jumps he can be boisterous and could possibly knock over small kids. He's a very gentle soul, but his excitement can get the better of him.

Mango would love a home where he can cuddle his humans and be showered with affection. Touch and play are his love languages and his happy tail would win anyone's heart. He has done well meeting strangers and he's been patiently waiting for the right forever home to find him.

We do not have a history with cats.
