Mandy's Story

My name is Mandy and I am a 4-year-old female mixed breed who weighs about 45 lbs.
I have short legs and a long back, and I'm looking for a very specific kind of forever home so I can feel safe and secure.

I am very fearful of men, and for this reason I must go to an all-female home. This is not a preference - it is a requirement for my emotional well-being. I will need a patient, understanding adopter who is willing to work closely with my foster and give me time and space to build trust at my own pace.

I am very food motivated, which helps with training and confidence-building, but I am not a dog who will bond instantly. Trust takes time for me, and I need a calm, predictable environment to feel comfortable.

With other dogs, I am a dominant female. I can do okay with a passive or aloof dog who is comfortable letting me take the lead. However, if another dog challenges me or tries to assert dominance, I will escalate the situation and it can lead to a fight. Because of this, careful dog matching is extremely important, and in many cases I may do best as the only dog.

I am not safe with cats and must go to a cat-free home.

I am not a beginner dog, but for the right person - someone patient, experienced, and willing to advocate for my needs - I can be a loyal companion who continues to grow and gain confidence.

If you are an all-female household looking for a dog who needs understanding, structure, and time to trust, please ask about me and my foster so we can see if we might be the right match.
