Mama Rosemary's Story
Mama Rosemary is looking for a unicorn adopter, or at least an amazing foster willing to help get her to Colorado.

In just five short years, Rosemary has endured more than any dog ever should. She was abandoned in the woods and left to survive on her own for months, where she not only struggled to stay alive, but also gave birth to seven puppies with no safety, no shelter, and no one to protect her. She did everything she could for them, even when she had almost nothing herself.

As if that wasn’t enough, about a year ago Rosemary was shot with a BB pellet, an act of cruelty that has left her with permanent nerve and muscle damage. Because of this injury, something she had absolutely no control over, she is now incontinent. And heartbreakingly, that one unfair consequence has made it nearly impossible for her to find the home she so deeply deserves.

Her only “flaw”, which isn’t even her fault, is her incontinence due to the BB pellet injury. Because of this, she will need a dedicated foster or adopter who can help keep her and her space clean. While she may need flexible spaces to help with cleanliness and transitions, the most important thing is a caregiver who is committed to supporting her needs with patience, love, and dignity. Rosemary deserves a home where her care is thoughtfully managed and where she can truly live her best life, not simply be placed somewhere out of convenience.

Despite everything she has been through, Rosemary remains incredibly resilient. She still loves people with her whole heart, melts for belly rubs, and greets the world with a gentle, trusting spirit. She is good with other dogs, and countless people have commented on what an amazing temperament she has. She is sweet, friendly, easygoing, and calm. She truly is the perfect dog in every way that matters.

Rosemary enjoys being near her people but is also wonderfully independent. She can be left alone for long periods of time and is content to spend her days sunbathing, taking long naps, and quietly chewing on bones. She isn’t super interested in toys or fetch, instead, her absolute joy comes from going on walks, where she lights up with excitement and happiness just to be out exploring the world.

It feels impossibly unfair that a dog who has survived abandonment, motherhood in the woods, and human cruelty, and still chooses to love, continues to wait simply because of something she cannot change.

If you’re interested in fostering or adopting this incredibly deserving girl, apply online at www.uppupandaway.org. Meet and greets only happen once approved as an adopter. If you’re already an approved adopter or foster, feel free to DM your interest. The rescue provides food and any other items needed for her care.
