Mama O'Neil's Story

Cowabunga, dudes - every hero team needs a wise leader, and Mama O'Neil has been running her own little turtle squad like a pro.

Mama O'Neil was found as a pregnant stray on the Red Lake Reservation, doing her best to survive out in the wild. Like any good sensei, she protected her little team until help arrived. She first landed in a temporary foster home where she safely welcomed her babies into the world before officially joining the crew at Northern Lakes Rescue.

Shortly after the puppies were born, Mama O'Neil wasn't able to produce enough milk for her growing little ninjas. But true to her heroic nature, she never gave up on them. While their foster family stepped in with bottle feeding, Mama O'Neil handled all the important mom duties - cleaning, comforting, and keeping a close eye on her tiny team. Teamwork makes the dream work.

Now that her babies are getting bigger, it's finally Mama O'Neil's turn to step out of the sewer (okay... the puppy room) and find a forever home of her own.
This girl is friendly, smart, and full of playful energy. She loves squeaky toys, chewy toys, and pretty much anything that lets her channel her inner ninja. She's been a very good house guest and has only attempted to steal a shoe or two - which honestly feels like a pretty small crime in the grand scheme of things.

Mama O'Neil is mostly house trained thanks to a doggy door in her foster home. While she may still be learning how to ask to go outside in a traditional setup, she's already proven she knows how to communicate when she wants something - like when she politely requests access to check on her puppies.

At night, Mama O'Neil sleeps peacefully in her foster's bedroom, choosing the floor over the bed like the humble hero she is.

After everything she's done raising her little ninja squad, Mama O'Neil deserves a home where she gets to be the one taken care of for a change.

If you're looking for a loyal sidekick with the heart of a hero and the spirit of a ninja, Mama O'Neil is ready to join your team.

Adopt Mama O'Neil and let the adventures begin.

Northern Lakes Rescue's Adoption Policy
We do not focus on one definition of a perfect home and instead focus on finding the best home for that particular dogs needs. Some dogs may require homes with fences, other dogs, children etc. while others do not. We are a foster based rescue, we do not house dogs at a facility. Age and breed, are NLR's best guess as we often don't know who or what mom and dad are. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website https://northernlakesrescue.org Our adoption fees cover spay, vaccinations, microchip and any additional medical care the dogs may have needed while in the rescue’s care.
