Mallory's Story

A060474 Mallory; spayed female Belgian Malinois; est. 1 year; 58.20 lbs
Contact: Calaveras County Animal Services
(209)754-6509
Website: https://animal.calaverasgov.us/
Email: animal@calaverascounty.gov

Young Mallory is a beautiful Belgian Malinois, a breed known for exceptional intelligence and athleticism—and also for tearing up your house if not given an engaging job to do. Malinois are famous for being intense, high-drive dogs requiring hours of daily mental and physical stimulation.

Mallory enjoys playing ball, especially with her favorite blue squeaky ball that she can make go squeak-squeak-squeak. It's a delight to see her playful nature come out and admire her gorgeous confirmation and movement.

With other dogs, Mallory seems companionable, if often uninterested.

When another big male dog was unfriendly to her when she sniffed him, she simply noped outta there and retreated to her handler.

The females she's been around thus far have apparently not been worthy of her attention. She was peaceful with but mostly ignored female dogs both in the play pen and through the fence.

There was one exception to her dogs-meh attitude: Our handsome boy Radar (also available for adoption) caught her attention and she sniffed him all over. Maybe she just prefers the tall and rangy type of guy?

People are what Mallory really seems to like best. She is making human friends at the shelter left and right. While we'd advise against leaving any Malinois alone for long periods, our guess is that the relatively calm and beautiful Mallory will thrive in a loving home with lots of human companionship and an active lifestyle. And perhaps a tall, handsome, rangy dog sibling to sniff.

Though we can't make guarantees, she appears to be housetrained.

As always, a meet-and-greet is required if you have other dogs at home.
