Mallard's Story

Meet Mallard, a sweet boy who may need a little time to come out of his shell! Mallard is very shy when he first meets new people and can feel nervous in unfamiliar situations, so he will need a patient adopter who is willing to give him the time, space, and encouragement he needs to settle in and build confidence.

Because Mallard can be unsure around strangers and in new environments, continued socialization will be an important part of helping him become the confident dog we know he can be. For now, he would likely do best in a home without children where he can take things at his own pace.

Mallard did well during his dog test here at the shelter, and having another dog around actually seemed to help him feel more comfortable. He may enjoy having a confident, friendly canine companion to help show him the ropes. Once Mallard warms up, his sweet personality really starts to shine. He knows sit, enjoys playing with toys, and likes getting attention from his people. One of his favorite places to be is right at your feet, quietly keeping you company.

Mallard is looking for someone who understands that the best relationships take time. With patience, consistency, and plenty of positive experiences, this shy boy has so much potential to blossom into a loving and loyal companion.
