Maki (URGENT)'s Story
Meet Maki!

Maki may be young, but she already has a story—and she’s hoping the next chapter is written with you. This sweet girl has spent her puppyhood in a Texas shelter, dreaming of the day she gets to curl up on a couch instead of a kennel floor. She’s estimated to be around 7–7.5 months old and weighs just under 55 lbs. Once fully grown, she’ll likely be a medium-to-large dog, around 60+ lbs. Without a DNA test, her breed can’t be confirmed, but her records list her as a mixed breed, and her shepherd-like features suggest she may be some kind of GSD mix.

Maki’s journey began in August 2025 when she was found as a stray—young, unsure, and completely on her own. But even through the chaos of shelter life, she’s held onto her gentle heart and playful spirit. She’s curious about the world, adores human affection, and is always ready to learn, especially when treats or praise are involved. Give her time, patience, and guidance, and she’ll reward you with unwavering loyalty.

Like any growing pup, Maki is still learning how to be a dog in a home. She’ll need help with the basics—house training, leash manners, and building her confidence in new places and situations. At first, she may be cautious, but once she feels safe, her goofy, loving personality shines through. Think zoomies, floppy ears, soft snuggles, and soulful eyes that make you want to hug her forever.

Maki has done well around other dogs and would enjoy a friendly canine companion, though it’s not a requirement. She hasn’t met cats yet, but with her age and temperament, slow introductions could work. Since she hasn’t been around young kids much, we recommend a home with older, respectful children who understand puppy boundaries and behaviors.

A home with a secure, fenced yard is ideal for Maki—she loves to run, explore, and soak up the sunshine. Apartment or condo living isn’t the best match for her energy and needs. While shepherd or working dog experience is a bonus, what truly matters is an adopter who’s committed to giving her structure, love, and the room to grow into the incredible dog she’s meant to be.

Texas shelters are overcrowded, and dogs like Maki are at risk through no fault of their own. She deserves so much more than a kennel—she deserves a family, a warm bed, and a lifetime filled with adventure, safety, and love.

Adoption Requirements:
• No apartments or condos (case-by-case basis)
• Fenced yard required
• Experienced or breed-savvy adopter strongly preferred

Health:
Maki is spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and on monthly preventatives. She’s too young for heartworm testing but is otherwise healthy and ready to travel.

Adoption Info:
All of our dogs, including Maki, are currently located in Texas and will only be transported once an adoption is finalized. Transport is included in the adoption fee. Breed labels are educated guesses—we encourage adopters to focus on her personality, lifestyle fit, and long-term commitment rather than breed alone.
MA License #479
