Magnus is a unique blend of playful energy and calm independence, making him a wonderful companion for someone who appreciates a dog with a bit of personality. He loves playing with plush toys, especially on his own, and while he’s not a big fan of squeaky toys (he probably thinks they’re a bit too noisy), he has a goofy side that shines when he's in the mood for belly rubs, butt rubs, or head scratches. Magnus knows how to sit, roll over, offer both paws, and lay down, showcasing his intelligence and loyalty.

While Magnus enjoys his independence, he also has a social side, especially when it comes to interacting with other dogs. He’s a curious observer on walks, happy to explore and sniff around at his own pace. Magnus is generally calm, even during loud noises like thunderstorms, though he might join in with some howling if the mood strikes him, particularly if his doggy companions are doing the same. His lively personality and love for exploring make him a great fit for a home where he can have space to express himself freely. A house with a yard would be ideal for him to enjoy his observations and occasional bursts of energy.

Magnus is very food-motivated and can get quite excited when it’s mealtime, bouncing and barking with enthusiasm. He’s loving and gentle, though his eagerness might sometimes come across as a bit overzealous. Despite this, he means no harm and simply enjoys his meals and treats. When it comes to grooming, Magnus tolerates it well, even if he has a hard time sitting still due to his playful energy. His coat does require regular care, but he doesn’t mind being brushed, and he’s comfortable having his paws handled.

Potential adopters should be aware that Magnus has a history where he was startled and reacted defensively, so understanding his boundaries and giving him space when needed is important. He is opinionated, and can be temperamental - we don't recommend him for 1st-time eskie owners!
Regular exercise, including walks and the opportunity to explore a yard, will help keep Magnus balanced and happy. He would thrive in a home where his temperament and preferences are observed, but where he can also receive the love and attention on his own terms. If you’re looking for a dog with a bit of a strong, yet loving personality, Magnus might just be the perfect fit for you.
