Maggie's Story

Maggie, AKA "Maggie-Moo", "The Magster" and "Miss-Moo" was the victim of egregious negligence: tethered and starved, her only value was to breed puppies to sell. She was rescued by our local Animal Services Officers and brought back to health by our shelter staff and volunteers.

Miss Maggie-Moo is now a very healthy 70 lb. melon-headed kissing machine! She is so very grateful and loves all humans despite how poorly she was treated by her original owner.

Maggie has stolen hearts in the prison and is a wonderful ambassador for her breed. Her trainer Mr. Hahn describes Maggie as a "great big blue teddy bear".

More of a couch potato than an athlete, Maggie does enjoy leash walks where she can sniff and get the exercise she needs. Otherwise, she is happy to just hang out with her person. She would do fine in an apartment or condo as well as a house, providing she gets daily walks and belly rubs.

Maggie has learned her cues of sit, down, stay, give, leave it, wait (for food and doors), hi-5, go to her spot; and she will do almost anything to earn a tasty treat.

Miss Maggie gets along well with the other dogs in her dorm (male and female) and she loves all humans, even the ones who don't care for dogs.

If you don't like dog kisses, Maggie is probably not the dog for you. She could earn a good living at a kissing booth and has even mastered the famous "Magster Drive-By Kiss" :)

Maggie has brought much joy to the Veteran's Dorm where she has lived for the past several months. She bonds very closely with her person. She will be greatly missed but everyone is rooting for her to find a real home of her own where she will be loved and cared for the rest of her life.

For more photos and a letter from trainer Mr. Hahn, please go to our FB page at

www.facebook.com/RiverbendJailDogs
