Maggie's Story

*Maggie is currently out on a Slumber Party!
Maggie, formerly Snickers/Snickerdoodle, originally arrived at NCCR on 10/1/20 after being found stray in Conewango Valley and remaining unclaimed by her owner. She was returned on 1/10/26 when circumstances in her home changed and she was struggling to adjust. Maggie is a female, estimated to be around 7-8 years old, and guessed to be a Wheaten Terrier/Schnauzer mix. She weighs about 30 pounds and is full grown. Maggie is sweet and friendly with people, house trained, knows some basic commands, and walks nicely on a leash. She would do best in a home without other pets or children, and prefers to be your one and only.
*Approved applicants are welcome to participate in our popular Slumber Party Program and take a dog home for up to 2 weeks to make sure he/she is a great fit.
If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an Adoption Application at www.caninerescue.org. *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far processing your application before a home was found. We welcome you to apply again when you see another dog that interests you. If you have a question, please email us at adoptions@caninerescue.org. It is much easier and quicker for us to respond by email, as we receive many phone calls each day.
We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopters must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in.
*PLEASE double check all of the phone numbers that you provide. If they are incorrect, we will be unable to process your application. Please also let your references know that someone from NCCR will be calling them. Most adoption team members call from their personal phone, so advise your references that there may be an unknown or private number calling them. Thank you!

NYS Registration #RR028

Date of Arrival: January 10, 2026
Breed(s): Wheaten Terrier/Schnauzer mix
Age: 7-8 years old
Health info: Spayed, vaccinated & microchipped
