Maggie's Story
FOSTER OR ADOPTER NEEDED

We need a new foster home for Maggie. 🙏

Unfortunately, their resident dog has never been a fan of hers (Maggie loves other dogs though, but maybe a little too roughly?), so they've been having to manage keeping the dogs separated, which is difficult with the layout of their house. And now their work schedule is changing, which will make it even more difficult to manage keeping them apart. This move is not due to anything she has done wrong. They love Maggie, and if their existing dog (also from us) didn't have a white-hot hate for Maggie, they would keep her themselves.

Maggie is a very smart, well-behaved dog who thrives with training and having something to do. Someone who has Malinois experience would be amazing.

**************************

Meet Maggie! 😍 Her estimated DOB is 3/13/23, she is spayed, a Belgian Malinois mix, and weighs 70lbs.

Her foster mom has this to say:
"Maggie is full of love. She came to us a few months ago and it is hard to give her up. She loves to snuggle like she weighs 5 lbs, even though she’s over 60lbs. She is ALWAYS excited to see you. She has a lot of energy and loves to play with you. She listens to basic commands very well (sit, stay, lay, roll over). She’s extremely smart and I’m sure would do fabulously with further training. She has never had a potty accident in our house or in the crate since we’ve had her. She has been both crated and not-crated overnight, and is fine either way. She has been left in her crate during the workday (about 6 hours) and is fine with that.

We fostered Maggie for a month when she was a puppy until she was adopted, and then her family surrendered Maggie back to us after having her for about 2 years due to reported resource guarding with their young child. After having Maggie for a few months, she has never shown aggression to anyone in our family, including our children who are 11 & up. I wouldn’t recommend small children simply due to Maggie’s size and that sometimes she thinks she’s a little dog.

We have two dogs in the house that are ours as well. Our husky mix around Maggie’s age is not the most patient dog. She does not like Maggie, and that is the reason we are not adopting her. With other friendly dogs, Maggie is in heaven because she thrives with having dog buddies to play with and get her energy out.

Please do not let an awesome loving dog fall through the cracks, she’s fantastic and deserves a great family."

There are no cats in her current foster home, but Maggie previously lived with a cat.

To apply for Maggie, fill out an application at our website SalfidRescue.org/apply

Salfid Rescue
Souderton PA
PA KL# 18374
