Maggie's Story

APB is assisting Maggie's owner with direct placement while Maggie remains in her home, with APB coordinating the application, a home visit, and vet reference check. Maggie has been evaluated by APB and is medically up to date.

Maggie is a very social and friendly dog with all people she meets. She is playful, likes walks, car trips, and naps with her person. Maggie likes petting and attention but not hugging or lots of excitement. She enjoys playing with toys and snuggling on her (your) furniture. She is not a fan of sharing space with other pets (she chases the cat in her home and is aloof with dogs), so it is recommended that she go to a home where she is the only pet.

Magggie was taken in as an abandoned dog 2 years ago, so we have no prior history before that, and her estimated age of 12 is the vet's best guess based on poor dental condition when she was found. Maggie has since been very well cared for, she is in excellent health, goes for monthly grooming, is current on all vaccines and preventions, and microchipped. She had extensive dental work done in May 2024 so she's missing some teeth, but she eats her kibble and can play with soft/rubber toys. She has occasional accidents in the house, mainly because she is not great at notifying needs and sometimes doesn't finish her business outside because she gets too busy sniffing. Maggie tolerates her crate, and crating is recommended when she is home alone to prevent accidents in the house.

Maggie would make a wonderful companion for an older family or a family that can be home part of the day to keep her company.
