Maeve's Story

Maeve is an 8 year old 10 lb chihuahua mix (my guess is chiweenie). She came to NH after being surrendered to be euthanized at AC. There was no way that was happening for AC or NH!

She had a giant tumor on her belly. Her nails were long. Her skin was itchy and awful. She was scared and sad.

Surgery revealed her mass was actually a giant inguinal hernia. She has had two surgeries to try and keep the hernia from reoccurring. She was spayed and given a cytopoint injection along with steroid treatment for allergies. She is given a multivitamin and omega 3 oil at her foster home and the allergies are lessening. Her fur is still red but it is healing. She has had a mammary mass removed. She will need a commitment to making sure she is healthy, because there is a chance she will need surgeries in the future.

Maeve is a dominant dog. She does well in her foster home with other dogs and a cat, but she would not do well with a household with another dominant dog. She does do well in a crate when her foster mom is at work. She is housebroken.

Maeve is also a very alert and protective dog. It can lead to barking at new things. She loves to position herself at the window to alert you of stranger danger!!

Maeve is also a very sweet and cuddly dog. She will contently lay by your side. She is very loyal and friendly to people.

If you are looking for a sassy senior Maeve could be your gal! She is up to date on shots, heartworm and flea preventative, spayed and microchipped. Her adoption fee is 135.
