Maddie is deaf's Story
Meet Maddi — A Very Special Deaf Girl Looking for Her Forever Home

Maddi is a beautiful 4-year-old Pitbull who is spayed, fully vetted, vaccinated, and deaf.

Maddi has been with the same family since she was born. As their toddler grew older, the family ultimately felt that a home without young children would be the safest and best fit for everyone. Maddi has not shown that she has an issue with children—we simply want to be proactive and place her in a home that is set up for her success.

Maddi is currently safe with a wonderful deaf foster couple who truly understand her needs, and she is doing beautifully. She is affectionate, playful, loyal, and loves being close to her people. She especially loves cuddling under the covers and playing fetch!

Because Maddi is deaf, she needs an adopter who understands that communication is a little different. She does wonderfully with her vibrating collar, and her new family will need to continue using it as part of her communication and training.

She also needs someone who understands the importance of making eye contact with her before touching or petting her, so she isn’t startled. These simple things make a huge difference in helping Maddi feel safe and confident.

Maddi gets along with other dogs, but I believe she could truly thrive as an only dog, where she can have her person’s undivided attention and build that special bond.

Her ideal home:
• Someone experienced with or willing to learn about deaf dogs
• A calm, patient and structured household
• Preferably an only-dog home
• No young children, or older children who understand and respect her disability
• Someone committed to using her vibrating collar and communicating with her appropriately
• Someone who will give her the time and consistency she deserves

Maddi is not a broken dog. She simply experiences the world differently.

We are determined to find the right match for her—not just any home. Maddi deserves someone who will understand her, advocate for her, and love her for the amazing girl she is.

If you think you could be Maddi’s person, please text Sunni’s Animal Missions at 830-237-8588 for an adoption application.

Maddi is located in Canyon Lake, Texas.
