Mack Truck's Story
Goddard Police Department found this lost dog on July 10. The city does not have a shelter; the police department keeps him in their kennels. Mack Truck keeps a clean kennel, so he has been in a home and shows good manners. He is low energy and is a strong fellow. He may be shy around new people. Once he is outside, he warms up to a slow approach rewarded with treats. He takes treats gently and knows how to give the Rottie lean. He walks well on a leash and could be a great training partner because he seems to really enjoy walks. He does not exhibit resource guarding. When he picked up a fast food foil wrapped sandwich off the ground, he readily gave it up when asked. The department is willing to provide vet care for him. He does not have a deadline, but they are not able to house dogs for lengthy periods. He behaves well around other dogs while loosen leash walking.
He is heartworm negative and fecal sample is clean of parasites.
Evaluator notes: This big guy is a LOVE! Mack is 152 pounds! He walks pretty well on leash. He is about 5/6 years old. Looks like his nails have recently been cut. He is overweight but solid! He is neutered. He showed up as a stray and is with the Goddard Police Department. He has the Rotty lean down pat! He knows sit and down. He's good with men/women. While walking him by the trees, he did see a cat/rabbit and he was very interested and after a bit, I was able to redirect him. When he was taken to the boarding facility, they walked him by many dogs from small to large and he just sniffed and kept on walking. I was able to touch Mack all over. He is low energy. They said he hasn't made a mess in his kennel. He took treats gently. He would make a GREAT MARR dog! Mack loved us from the beginning and showed trust on the leash although a little bit of pulling; nothing major. I could touch him all over. Mack is a big ole boy that just wants to be loved on! The officer said she had him on a slip lead and it came off and he just stayed with her. Mack is just a lovable big lug and he seems to be missing his people. He needs a new family to love him!
