Mac's Story
Update from
Foster 1/31:
Mac's bio

Here's my updated info:

Mac is a giant sweetheart. The vet estimates he’s between 12 and 14 and I would guess he’s between 10-15 lbs. He is happy to cuddle on the bed or near wherever someone is. He does not like being left alone (he'll bark for a bit) but will tolerate it. He loves attention and being pet.

He doesn't like to play, but he loves walks. He definitely needs a daily walk or some other sort of stimulation because he gets restless throughout the day and at night. We typically do about three or four blocks a day and that tuckers him out.

He startles so easily that I think a quiet home without young children would be best. There was an incident where he fell over after someone sneezed nearby. He gets scared when I put a plate on the counter or close a cabinet and runs away. Related to this, if another animal startles him, he might bark at whoever it is, which may slightly scare the other animal (he's done this to my cat and dog). BUT I think this has only happened two or three times in the three weeks I’ve had him.

Despite this, he really does seem to enjoy being around other dogs. He gets very excited when my dad's dogs are here or when he sees my resident dog. He loves to chase after them with his tail wagging. I would suggest he's around tolerable dogs and dog savvy cats. I don't think he would do great if he were the only pet in the home.

He definitely prefers men and is noticeably more excited to see my dad and partner, even though I'm the one who feeds him and walks him. This makes sense because his previous home was with three other dogs and a single older man. That being said, he still has a lot of love to go around!

Mac’s biggest (and really only) red flag has been being restless overnight, but we just started him on nightly CBD and that seems to be helping a lot. He also just had a dental Wednesday and I’m waiting to see if he’s less restless after he heals — his teeth were in such bad shape, I’m sure he was in pain and that
