Meet Mable<br/><br/>Some dogs make you wait to fall in love with them. Mable isn't one of them. Just a few weeks into foster care, this bouncy, affectionate Lab mix has already won over everyone she's met: happy, wiggly, and full of life from the moment she walks in the room. She'll greet you with enthusiastic kisses and get as close to your face as she possibly can, because as far as Mable's concerned, there's no such thing as too close to her people.<br/><br/>She's got that perfect Lab combination of energy and snuggles — bouncy and active one minute, a giant lap dog the next, always happiest right next to you. At around 56 lbs, she's a little growing left to do, but her personality is already fully formed. She was spayed on 8/17 and is recovering well.<br/><br/>Mable settles beautifully into crate life and sleeps soundly through the night (though she'll let out a little whine if she hears fun happening without her!). She's potty trained and lets her foster family know with a whine when she needs to go out. She's learning ball retrieval and loves playing with people, and with her dog friends she's discovered a favorite game of tug with sticks. She's got strong puppy energy and gets the zoomies when she plays, so she'll need a daily outlet for all that energy.<br/><br/>She's fantastic with other dogs, and in her short time in foster she's also met cats, donkeys, chickens, and sheep with nothing but curiosity and respect. She's whip-smart and extremely food and treat motivated, picking up new skills fast. Right now she's working on not jumping when she greets people, improving her recall, and learning better leash manners — she still pulls sometimes, but she's already quick to look to her humans for direction.<br/><br/>Mable will also make a wonderful low-key guardian for her family. She's never rude to strangers, but she'll bark to alert her people when someone new arrives — a bark that sounds a lot more ferocious than she looks! Once she sees everything's okay, she happily shares her love with the newcomer too. She's not a nuisance barker; her barking is purposeful communication, not aimless noise.<br/><br/>You can tell Mable has had a hard life before finding her way to Hero, and she carries a little bit of anxiety with her — but she is unmistakably happy, loving, and full of life, and she gets better every single day. She will absolutely be a velcro dog to her new family, and cuddles, love, and kisses are guaranteed.<br/><br/>Mable is looking for an active, social family who loves long walks and outdoor adventures, then curling up together at the end of the day. A fenced yard would be a dream for her zoomies, and while she doesn't need another dog in the home, she'd absolutely thrive with a canine sibling or a household full of people to love.<br/><br/>If you want a best friend who'll keep you moving, make you laugh, and then fall asleep on your feet, Mable might just be it.<br/><br/>Thank you for your interest in one of our Hero Babies! Before inquiring, we thought it was important to share a few of our policies. <br/><br/>Your Current Pets - We do require that your current dogs and cats are current on vaccines and spayed/neutered. <br/><br/>Adoptions - We do not have a shelter and are a foster-home based organization. We do require that you have an approved adoption application to schedule a meet and greet. You can fill out an adoption application on our website, www.herorescue.org/adopt. Once your application is approved it will be sent to the foster family that is currently caring for the dog. They will be able to provide information on likes, dislikes, personality, etc. They will also schedule a time for you to meet the dog.
