Mabel's Story
Today we bring you Mabel, and we hope to find a loving Furever home for this sweet, beautiful girl.

Mabel was found as a small puppy last year, all alone, in rural Missouri, by the side of a road. A fellow rescuer scooped her up, so she wouldn't be hit by a car. She made her way to Omaha, was vetted, prepared for adoption, and we all thought she had found a great home last summer. We didn't get this one right. A little over a year later, Mabel was returned to rescue. Of course we welcomed her back, but we are heartbroken for Mabel. She tried to be a really good girl, and she truly is. She was returned because she has too much energy. Well, as a 1.5 year old pup, she does, but that's hardly unexpected. We feel we failed Mabel the first time around, and we hope this is our chance to make it right. So we are looking for a pawesome home for Mabel.

Mabel is so sweet. She's very friendly and loves people. She's playful and will gladly play with other dogs in her foster home, but she's also happy to play with a toy, if other dogs are not interested in playing. Mabel also loves chasing a tennis ball, and enjoys a good game of fetch. She is active, but will also settle down and lay down to relax. Mabel's general demeanor is happy to be alive, and she really wants to please. Her eyes are soulful and her coat is soft. She lights up when told she's a good girl.

Mabel has good housetraining skills. She is fully potty trained, and does not have accidents, she does all her business outside. She can, on occasion, tinkle a bit if she's excited. She is also crate trained, and she does well in the crate. Mabel enjoys going for walks, and has figured out a pretty good 'heel' in just a few walks. She loves meal time and she's treat motivated, which makes training easier. Mabel does great in the car, and loves going for rides. She does well with a bath and nail trim, too. The clinic staff all loved her.

Mabel is the prefect medium-sized pup. She weighs 50 lbs. She is fully vetted - spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and current on tick/flea/heartworm prevention.

We are looking for a home that will be committed, loving, and appreciative of a kind soul. Someone who understands that dogs need attention, love, exercise, positive reinforcement, and a soft hand. Someone who is active, who wants a side-kick and an earnest best friend. Mabel's ideal home would have a fenced yard (no electric fences, please) to play fetch in.

If Mabel sounds like the friend you need in your life, we invite you to complete an Adoption Application on our website, here is the link:
https://www.midwestwheatenrescue.org/adoption-info
