Lyra's Story
Lyra came to us through our humane agents after being abandoned in a burned down residence. She spent over a month out on an abandoned property, fending for herself, until thankfully a concerned citizen found her. She was completely emaciated and covered in fleas, and surprisingly alive and in good spirits. After lots of TLC, baths, and medication, she made a full recovery.

Once she was feeling better, we discovered she does NOT like other animals. At all. What she does adore? People. She loves people so much, and it is so sad to see her get passed up over and over again. Lyra does so well at the vet, and everyone there loves her. She would be an amazing companion for a quiet country home who is looking for an older gal with a lot of pep in her step. She has loved every human she has met so far, and would do great in a home with kids. All she wants and craves is attention. Lyra loves to run and go for walks, and has so much energy for an older girl. She loves stuffies and honestly any toy she can get into her mouth. She has been in the shelter longer than any senior ever should, and can't wait to finally find her forever family.
