Lyra's Story

Lyra is the puppy that came to us back in January after being found in a box with her siblings who unfortunately didn’t make it she has been a true fighter since the beginning and she’s now ready to move onto her next chapter in life!

Orlando, FL
9 months old
30 lbs (still growing)
Shepherd/pit mix
**we’d love for her to have a pool for exercise and another friendly doggie in the home

From Lyra’s foster: “One of Lyra's favorite activities is swimming! With a little help from her foster dad, she lights up in the water and has the best time. She also absolutely adores children and loves being part of everything she can be involved in. She is sassy and opinionated and will let you know when you're not giving her enough attention!

Lyra is partially paralyzed from the waist down due to a spinal condition. She gets around with the help of her wheelchair and needs assistance expressing her bladder and bowels several times a day. While her care requires a little extra commitment, it's simply part of her daily routine, and she takes it all in stride.

Because of her spinal diagnosis, Lyra has a guarded prognosis, and we don't know how much time she has left. What we do know is that every day she wakes up ready to live life to the fullest, love with her whole heart, and make everyone around her smile”

At some point, as her condition and quality of life declines, a decision will need to be made to le her go peacefully. That day is not today or tomorrow, but it will come. Until then, she deserves to be loved, spoiled, comfortable, and surrounded by a family who sees her for everything she is and has to offer.

We know this is a huge ask, but we believe her forever family is out there! We are looking for someone who understands what a hospice commitment means and is willing to give that to Lyra.

Please text (954) 789-7850 if you’d like to learn more about Lyra’s story.
