Lydia's Story
Hi, I’m Lydia.

I’m a 3-year-old, 55-pound girl who has been through more than most dogs ever should, but I’m finally safe — and now I’m looking for a home where I can rest, heal, and be loved.

When the rescue saved me from a high-kill shelter, they were told I was healthy aside from mild respiratory symptoms. But when I arrived at my foster home, it became clear something was very wrong.
I was actually pregnant — something the shelter never mentioned — and within hours, I went into preterm labor.
I lost the puppies, which can happen in dogs who have distemper, and I was rushed to the emergency vet for intensive care.

Thanks to the rescue, I received the treatment I needed, and I’ve been recovering ever since.

I’m a gentle, sweet, and sensitive dog who can be nervous in new places at first, but once I settle in, I do wonderfully.
I’m great with kids and get along with most dogs as long as they aren’t dominant.

I will need a home without cats.

I’m truly just a good girl who wants a quiet, stable place and people who will be patient as I warm up.
I’m truly just

I will need a home without cats.
I’m truly just a good girl who wants a quiet, stable place and people who will be patient as I warm up. After everything I’ve been through, I’m ready for a future full of safety, comfort, and love.
If you’re looking to change a dog’s life — and gain a loyal friend in return — I’d love to meet you.
