Luna French's Story
--FOSTER PUPDATE--
Luna French A181585
30 lb. spayed female, approx 1 year old

-Luna loves toys. It took her two weeks to finally play with any toy. Her favorite toys are rope toys and stuffies. She LOVES if you take a stuffed toy and throw it up in the air for her! She will playfully "knock it off the couch" so we pick it up and throw it for her again. We are currently trying to teach her "fetch" but she seems to enjoy us engaging in play with her far more than her getting the toy herself.
-After two weeks in foster, we finally heard Luna bark. She does have a voice after all!
-Potty trained, and will give the quietest little whine if she needs to potty and you aren't paying attention. Her "cue" is to go sit by the door to go outside.
-She is a puppy and has TONS of energy. She is a strong leash puller, but gets distracted and will suddenly stop mid walk. We have been working heavily on leash walking skills, and she is slowly improving. She just needs to learn.
. Luna would make an AMAZING running partner for someone who loves to run for miles.
-She is a nervous chewer. We have been working on redirecting her nervous energy with stuffy toys and she has done wonderfully!
-Gets along with our cats fairly well but when her puppy energy comes out she will chase them for a moment before she remembers that they are friends.
-I fully believe she would get along with other dogs. She has shown interest in neighborhood dogs. During her initial decompression period when watching dogs on TV she immediately perked up and started wagging her tail until she realized they weren't real.
-Does well in the crate. She won't go to her crate if you just ask her to- but if you get a dog treat and then open the dog crate she will happily go in. We give her a peanut butter kong toy to chew on and she LOVES IT. We use an airline crate, not a wired crate.
-Happy girl who loves to wag her tail and settle in for cuddles when puppy energy runs out. She loves her neck and belly rubbed and has a spot on her neck that when you scratch makes her rear leg go crazy.
-Loves the snow! Likes to lay down in it, eat it, run in it, everything about it! Also LOVES to lay in the grass. Especially to take a break during walks!
-Prefers to be leashed when going outside potty, or that you walk outside with her and stand there while she does her business. I believe that Luna might have been left outside for long periods of time in past and is afraid of being left alone/forgotten outside.
-Takes treats SO gently. Likes to take her time eating her food. She will often "save some for later".
-Is nervous around our young toddler. She is not a fan of sudden movements and will get up and move away from them.

This pet is in a foster home! If you are interested in meeting Luna French, please email foster@friendsofdacc.org with subject line "Luna French A181585"

Meet all of our adoptable pets on our website friendsofdacc.org/adopt

There is a suggested donation of $100 for our dogs, and $40 for cats payable by cash, check or through paypal at the time of the adoption.
