Luna's Story

Luna is a 4 year old silver girl ruling the roost in Grand Haven Michigan. She came to GLWR as an owner surrender - They were downsizing and said they couldn't take her. So sad. She's looking for someone to adopt her and give her a great home for the rest of her life! Luna is a resource guarder which means that she is territorial over her food and space with dogs but not with people. That is why Luna's ideal home is without children or other dogs. In the yard during play time, while definatley being an alpha dog; she is very playful with both male and female dogs. Luna will need a fenced backyard and will give squirrels, racoons and possums a run for their money. She LOVES to play fetch. Luna needs to lose about 10lbs (don't we all???), so an owner who enjoys daily walks and commit to getting her lovely figure back would be awesome for Luna. Although she pulls slightly, she is good on a leash and knows basic commands. She may bark in the car at first, but will eventually lie down for the journey. Luna's adopter must have previous Weim experience and be able to be the "pack leader" and control the environment to counter Luna's alpha tendencies. Luna is a beautiful girl who loves to learn and please. If you've owned Weims before and like getting outside - Luna may be a great match.

Great Lakes Weimaraner Rescue, Inc.'s Adoption Policy
Adoption Application Request  Interested in adopting? GLWR is committed to giving rescue dogs the best chance at a wonderful life.  To that end, we ask you to know these things: 1.  The application process is not instantaneous.  We are all volunteers and we move things along as quickly as possible.  We need to get to know you through the application process; just like we get to know the dogs through our intake process.  It is in the best interest of all involved that this be done correctly. 2.  We do not hold dogs.  Approved adopters have their choice of appropriate dogs for their situation.  If you see a dog on the website that you would like, we cannot guarantee that that dog will still be available once your application is approved. 3.  Note to Families with children:   Weimaraners are large, energetic dogs who need a ton of daily exercise. They can be great family dogs, but will think nothing of knocking down toddlers to get to the door, or snatch cookies from their hands.
