Luna's Story

Luna is a dainty cream-colored puppy with sparkling green eyes and a curious little nose that wants to explore everything. This sweet 10 lb pup is friendly, affectionate, and just wants someone with a warm lap who will offer frequent belly rubs. Is that really too much to ask for? If not, keep reading, she just might be your girl!

HISTORY
Luna's DOB is 11/11/2025. She is a young pup from a small mixed-breed litter, likely a Chihuahua and terrier mix. She was surrendered to us due to a landlord issue.

Luna is fostered in Richland, in Eastern Washington. We share information about our dogs in postings based in other cities to improve their chances of finding a great forever home. She is well worth a road trip, and we encourage you to come and meet her before you decide she should join your family!

SOCIALIZATION, TEMPERAMENT AND TRAINING
Luna currently shares her home with small and large dogs and gets along beautifully with everyone. She loves to play, zoom around, and explore, but she also enjoys snuggling and quietly observing her humans when the action slows down. She is crate comfortable and is learning potty training, making great progress with structure and consistency.

Luna is just a baby, she is young and eager to learn how to be a good family dog. She'd love you to take her to school so he can learn ALL the skills she needs to be her best self. This would be beneficial for you as her pet parent(s) as well so that you can learn to communicate effectively with her and teach her to be confident.

It's important to remember: Luna is a puppy, and PUPPIES ARE HARD WORK! This little girl is just getting started - she has sharp nails and needle teeth and loves to pounce on shoes and grab hold and tug on anything that moves! As far as she's concerned, anything and everything is for play. She still has everything to learn about being a civilized member of a mainly human family. She will trip you up, piddle on your rug, and chew your stuff. Please don't apply to adopt Luna unless you're sure you have the time, energy and desire to raise her right!

HEALTH STATUS

General info
Luna is up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and dewormed. She appears to be in good health. At full grown, she will likely weigh around 15-20 lbs.

HART does not support pediatric spay/neuter, so Luna has not yet been sterilized. As part of the adoption contract, you will be required to have her spayed by 6 months of age. HART will refund $100 upon receiving proof of sterilization if requested.

ADOPTION
The adoption fee for Luna is $425. Our process starts with an online application and may take a few days to a week to complete. We appreciate your patience while we do our part.

To apply to adopt Luna, please complete our online adoption application at https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HAWA-A-92 or email HearthfireART@gmail.com
to request an adoption application form.

HART dogs live in foster homes, not in a kennel facility. To respect our fosters' privacy, we make our dogs available to meet adopters only after an adoption has been approved.

HART (Hearthfire Animal Rescue Team)'s Adoption Policy
All our pets are in private foster homes. HART does not have a facility. For this reason, we introduce pets to potential adopters only after the adoption application has been approved. Our process involves: # A detailed application form, which must be submitted electronically # An online background check # Reference checks (calls to your vet, landlord, and at least two personal references) # Interviews with all the adults in the home (and, if the pet is intended primarily as a child's companion, we talk with the child) # A home visit, conducted at our discretion by a member of HART or a trusted rescue colleague Most of our pets are located in the Tri-Cities (Kennewick/Richland/Pasco) in Eastern Washington, and we place pets only in homes within the Pacific Northwest. As needed we may arrange for a trusted member of our team to transport a pet to an adopter, at the adopter's expense. We do not ever release pets to a third party for transportation; we personally introduce every pet to their adopter. HART is a registered 501(c)3 charity. We depend on adoption fees and donations to continue serving our community. We do not have an office or facility, and our team is made up only of volunteers. Our entire income goes to helping animals.
