Luna's Story
Another shelter dog rescued from kill shelter.

Available for adoption - Vancouver Island

In order to be considered, you must first fill out and submit an adoption application found on our website www.nadrs.org

Only approved applicants can meet our available dogs.

She will need an active home with a fenced yard as she is a very young dog with energy.

Luna is a young, German Shepherd mix breed, approximately 1 to 2 yrs old. Very much a puppy! Friendly, playful and does well with other dogs. She can be nervous and shy if another dog is too pushy or overbearing in play - so only respectful dogs need apply!

Although Luna was picked up as a stray and never claimed from the shelter, someone definitely spent time in teaching her manners. She’s not mouthy, and she’s not super jumpy, although she does like to jump up and give hugs sometimes.

We believe she would do well with children, however, due to her size (50 pounds) with bouncy and puppy like behaviour, small children will not be suitable because she may knock them over.

She does well in her kennel and sleeps through the night - she would probably rather sleep snuggled in your bed however if allowed!! She has great house manners (with the occasional counter surf if you are not watching) and is housetrained.

Luna is a great pack walking partner with other dogs. Sometimes when you take dogs on walks together, all they want to do is play and interact with each other the whole entire time - Luna just wants to leisurely enjoy her walk with the other dogs and smell things. If I could categorize her as a person, I would call her a dainty southern belle going for a stroll.

Luna is a perfect angel in the car too! She lies down the whole time, and gets right in and right out without a dash to the door.

VERY food motivated, no interest in toys so far unless they’re stuffed with a snack.
