Luna's Story

Hi! My name is Luna, which some of you may know to mean “moon,” but I prefer “Princess of the Moon.” You see… I am a bit of a princess. I am a 2-year old Labrador Retriever with lineage, however I prefer to keep my bloodline to myself. People always want something from you when you have pedigree, and my former owner wanted a lot of puppies. Unfortunately when I couldn’t produce any more puppies he no longer wanted me. That’s where LOLIN came in. I was rescued!

I am a typical 2-year old lab; very energetic and playful, I love to eat, I know basic commands, and am an attention hog. I’m a little embarrassed to admit I’m a bit of a licker. If your face is nearby I will bless you with kisses. I get along great with kids but have not mastered everyone’s sense of space yet. Sometimes that annoys the dogs I live with right now, especially the female in the house. I’ve never really played with other dogs before, so I’m still learning how to do that. When the other dogs play-growl I think they are going to attack me and I get a little defensive. I have been slow to trust that these other dogs aren’t going to hurt me. I am good at fetch and love to run.

Even though I’m energetic, I do eventually calm down…although it may take me a little bit. I’m used to staying in my kennel during the days when my foster family has to leave and I sleep there at night. I really like my kennel and some evenings when I’m pooped out I just lay in there for some quiet time. If you can’t find me, that’s where I’ll be.

….Or I may be looking for the resident cat.

If you have a cat, I can’t say for sure I wouldn’t go after it. The cat in my foster home is super scared of me but I haven’t done anything to hurt it; I’ve just chased him (to the chagrin of the other dogs who only wish they could get away with that). I think if I lived with a cat that didn’t run off whenever it saw me I probably wouldn’t be that interested in it. It’s the thrill of the chase, what can I say!?!

And the answer to the million-dollar question: I’m almost housebroken! I can go for long periods of time in my crate without having an accident, but when my foster parents are home they let me out often so I don’t have any accidents in the house. I’m slowly getting more free reign in the house, and so far I’ve been very good.

Although I get along with other dogs, I would do just fine as an only dog. I am the kind of dog that wants to be by you at all times and competing for attention is something I do very well! I will love you hundreds of times over how much you could possibly love me. Wont you please consider adopting me?

If you are interested in adopting, please go to our website at www.lolin.org and click on "Adoption Process" along the left-hand side. From there, you can submit an Adoption Application to be considered for this dog.
