Luna's Story
Meet Luna (formerly known as Plata)

This gorgeous girl is about 2.5 years old, the perfect medium size at 55 lbs, and fully grown. Without a DNA test, we can’t confirm her breed, but we suspect she’s a Labrador Retriever x Weimaraner mix — a stunning combination of intelligence, grace, and affection.

Luna’s story began when she was found as a stray in Texas in March 2025. She was given a second chance when she earned a spot in a twelve-week training program at Starmark Academy, where she learned an incredible variety of skills and obedience cues. After graduating, Luna faced the possibility of returning to an overcrowded shelter, but one of her trainers stepped up to foster her — giving her the love, structure, and stability she deserved. She’s been thriving ever since and is now living in Montana, waiting patiently for her forever family.

Luna is truly the definition of a good dog. She’s incredibly sweet, gentle, and affectionate — without an aggressive bone in her body. She adores attention, loves being loved, and is happiest when she can return that love right back. Luna enjoys treats and toys but is mostly motivated through praise and connection with her person. She’s very observant, eager to please, and always wants to make her handler proud.

She’s also a huge snuggle bug! Luna loves curling up for naps and cuddling at night — she’ll even bring one of her toys to bed to join in on the snuggles.

Some of Luna’s cutest quirks?
-In the mornings, she greets her foster with a soft “wawawawa” — her special way of saying hello.

- She tends to fall asleep on car rides (usually while sitting up!), and when she’s awake, she rests her paw on your arm while gazing out the window.

- When she gets the zoomies, she runs backwards — yes, backwards! — and it’s as hilarious as it is adorable.

Luna is amazing with other dogs, playful yet appropriate, and would truly thrive in a home with another canine companion. She’s also great with cats and kids, rarely jumps up, and has a calm, even temperament that makes her a joy to be around.

This girl is brilliantly trained — she knows:
Sit, Down, Place, Come, Paw, Spin, Turn, Target, Touch, Tug, Heel (off leash), Automatic sits for heel, Door Manners, Leave it, “Night Night,” Retrieve, Center, Roll, Puppy Push-ups, Heel Dance, Home Manners, E-Collar work, Finished Recall at 30 feet, Clusters, Scent Work, and more!
She also holds long durations (Sit: 3 min | Down: 7 min | Place: 11 min), is crate-trained, and fully potty trained.

Health:
Luna is spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, dewormed, heartworm negative, and on monthly preventatives. She’s healthy, happy, and ready to begin the next chapter of her life with a forever family.

Since she is currently located in Montana, meet and greets are available with an approved application. Please note: For local MT adoptions, Luna is not under our rescue’s direct care and is being rehomed through her wonderful foster.

Luna is the complete package — loyal, loving, and full of personality. She’s just waiting for the perfect family to call her own.
