LUNA's Story

Meet Luna
Luna is seven years young, eleven pounds of determination, and fully embracing her Golden Girl era.

She came to us from Arizona Humane Society when her dental issues and wobbly knees put her at risk. Fast forward to today and this lady has had a full makeover.

The Glow Up
First, the smile.

Luna had dental surgery with multiple extractions and fistula repair. Now she has a bright, shining grin and can even touch her nose with her tongue. We did not know she was that flexible either.

Next, the knees.

Yes, she had patella concerns. Who among us does not have a knee story. With weight loss and steady exercise, her mobility has improved beautifully. The vet does not feel she needs intervention as long as she maintains her healthy weight. Her knee bends are smoother every day.

She is now at her ideal eleven pounds and committed to her clean protein, veggie forward lifestyle. Modern senior menus are working wonders.

Mobility. Balance. Portion control. She is taking it seriously.

Personality
Luna is timid at first but deeply sweet. She does well with other dogs and finds comfort in four legged friends. Once she builds trust with her humans, she enjoys cuddling and gentle affection. Her floppy ears are made for petting and she leans right into it.

She is cooperative with medication and handling, which tells you she understands teamwork.

Home Life
Luna has adjusted well to her foster home routine. She is mostly housebroken but can have an occasional fear piddle when startled. With reassurance and consistency, she continues to improve.

She does fine in a crate and also has lovely house manners. She walks nicely on leash and enjoys her outings, especially now that her knees appreciate her new physique.

The Next Chapter
This is Luna’s new lease on life moment. Updated smile. Stronger knees. Healthier body. Softer confidence.

She is stepping into her next chapter with grace and a little flair. If you are looking for a sweet, endearing companion who is embracing her best self in her golden years, Luna is ready to bring warmth, resilience, and quiet joy into your home. Cherished Tails Senior Sanctuary's Adoption Policy
Step 1 - Adoption Application and Meet and Greets To meet one of our adoptable dogs, email us at cherishedtails@yahoo.com or message our Facebook Page(https://www.facebook.com/CherishedTails) to locate our next adoption event and to check if the dog will be there. As a 100% foster-based organization, we do not have a physical facility and foster homes are spread out across Tucson and the greater Southern Arizona area. To set up a meet and greet with one of our dogs, please fill out an adoption application located on our website (www.cherishedtails.com). Applications will be considered in the order they are received. We will review your application to determine if the dog is a good fit for your family, and If we believe the animal would be a good match and is ready for adoption, we will contact you. Please be patient, as our volunteers and fosters have full-time jobs and busy families. We consider foster-to-adopt situations as well. Complete an adoption application on our website: www.cherishedtails.com Or at: Dog Application Step 2 - Home Check A home check is required as part of our adoption process to ensure the well-being and safety of all our rescue animals. The home check will be conducted either before you take your new pet home or during home meet and greets. Step 3 - Adoption Fee and Contract Once you are ready to officially adopt, you will complete adoption paperwork, receive medical records, take an adoption photo, and pay the adoption fee. All our pets are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccines, and micro-chipped. The adoption fee helps offset the cost of medical care and typically covers 50% or less of the medical bill. 100% of the adoption fee goes directly back into rescue to help pay for medical care and other needs of the animals in our care. Adoption fees are as follows: Dogs 10 and over: $125 Dogs 9 months to 9 years: $150 Puppies 9 months and younger: $2 00 We accept cash, check, Zelle and PayPal and via website Step 4 - Register the Microchip Ensure that your new pet will always be linked to you.
