Luna's Story

🌙 Meet Luna — Your New Best Friend in the Making!
If you’re looking for a dog who brings sunshine, silliness, and plenty of heart to every day, Luna is your girl. This 2–4-year-old cutie is the perfect mix of playful energy and sweet affection.
Luna is a tennis-ball fanatic, a pro-level “zoomie specialist,” and the kind of dog who turns simple things—like a walk or a game of fetch—into pure joy. She’s medium-high energy, loves getting out and about, and would thrive in a home that enjoys playtime as much as she does.
She’s also been working hard on her manners! Luna is learning clicker training, doing better and better with it, and she proudly knows sit. She can be a little unsure at first and is still learning how to navigate new experiences, but with gentle guidance and positive reinforcement, she blossoms quickly.
🐶 Luna with other dogs:
Luna has done wonderfully with dogs here at the shelter and has even been a playgroup all-star, showing appropriate play and good social skills with dogs who match her energy. That said, Luna recently experienced an altercation after being adopted into a home involving a dog that did not live in the household. Based on what we observed and know about Luna, we strongly suspect this was related to her being protective of her home and space.
Because of this, any potential canine siblings must do a meet-and-greet prior to adoption. Luna is a very loyal, protective girl who forms strong bonds, and she needs an adopter who understands her instincts, can advocate for her, and is willing to manage introductions thoughtfully and responsibly.
What Luna wants most is a family who loves her playful spirit, understands her protective nature, and is ready to continue building her confidence and trust. She is affectionate, eager to learn, and thrives with people who are patient, consistent, and dog-savvy.
✨ If you’ve been waiting for a fun, goofy, tennis-ball-loving adventure buddy who will also be deeply devoted to her people… Luna is waiting for you, too.
🐾 Interested in adopting?
Stop in during our adoption hours — we’re excited to meet you and help you find your new best friend!
📍 Marshall County Animal Shelter
37 Animal Shelter Drive
Moundsville, WV 26041
Adoption Hours:
• Mon & Wed–Sat: 11am–4pm
• Sun: 12pm–4pm
• Closed Tuesdays
You’re welcome to fill out our adoption questionnaire online ahead of time to help speed up the process, or complete it here at the shelter.
📄 Adoption questionnaire available at mcwvanimalshelter.com
