Lulu's Story

Meet Lulu: A Little Stranger Danger, A Lot of Love!
5 yr – 8 lb – Silky Terrier Mix (we think) – Non Shed – Playa Vista CA

Lulu is quite literally one of the cutest dogs you will ever see in your entire life. She looks like a little plush toy. She is an unreal level of cuteness and has the most beautiful non-shedding coat. Lulu has a huge heart especially for her chosen female-person.

Our Promise to Lulu
We don’t know what Lulu may have endured in her past to instill some of her deep fears, but we have made her a promise: her next family will give her everything she needs to thrive. With the right environment and an understanding heart, Lulu's past will no longer define her future. We are looking for a special adopter who wants to be the hero in her story, helping her write a new chapter filled with safety, patience, and unconditional love.

Ideal Home & Experienced Match
Lulu is looking for a quiet, low-traffic, adult-only home, with a strong preference for a female-only household. She requires an experienced dog owner who understands canine body language and fear boundaries. Lulu needs someone who will give her the time, space, and patience required to feel safe at her own pace. Her perfect adopter must be fully committed to working with her on her overall confidence, security, leash manners, and deep fear of men and new people.

The Sweetest Indoor Companion
Once you get past her initial "stranger danger" with new people, Lulu's true personality shines. It only took her a few hours to completely transform with her female foster mom! Inside the safety of the home, she is incredibly snuggly, super affectionate, and highly playful.

She is also amazing with other dogs! Her absolute favorite activity is running around the living room doing "zoomies" with her smaller foster brother. He can be a bit grouchy, but she handles him perfectly and respects his space. She also has a favorite squeaky squeeze toy that she loves to play with. When playtime is over, you can find her melting into the couch or choosing whatever cozy spot she wants for a long nap. At night, she prefers to sleep wherever she wants—whether that is on the floor, the couch, or right in bed with you.

House Manners and Care
Lulu is house-trained, though she does sometimes mark inside, so her family will need to keep a watchful eye on her as she learns a new routine. She really dislikes being in a crate and will pee if she is left inside one, so a home where she can roam freely or be confined to a safe, dog-proofed room is a must. She is an excellent little watchdog and will let out her signature shrill bark when other dogs pass by the front door, but otherwise, she is a very happy, content indoor princess. Because her alert bark is very high-pitched, she will need a home where her bark is not disruptive to close-quarter neighbors (such as in apartments).

A Deeply Embedded Fear of Men
Lulu has a deeply embedded fear of men. Her ideal home will have no men living in or regularly visiting. If she even hears a man sniffle or cough from another room, she will cower, cry, and bark out of absolute terror. Her fear response can even cause her to get up and try to run into the room he is in to chase him away because she is so scared.

Leash and Outdoor Confidence Needs
Lulu is absolutely terrified to go outside on a leash. If a leash is attached to her outdoors, she will instantly hunker down like a little lump and shake with fear. She will lay there and refuse to move out of pure anxiety. Because of this, her foster mom simply carries her when they are out, treating her like royalty. Her new experienced owner will need to be dedicated to very slowly and gently building up her leash manners and outdoor confidence from the ground up, starting in a secure environment.

Health and Vetting
Lulu is 5 years old, past the hectic puppy phase, and fully ready to settle into her forever home. She is already spayed, current on all of her vaccinations, and microchipped. She does not require any special diets, medications, or supplements, and she has no long-term medical needs.

To Adopt Lulu
If you live in a quiet, adult-only home and have the experience to advocate for Lulu, who will reward you with endless affection, please apply today to bring her home.
We are now actively accepting adoption applications for this special girl!
https://bichonrescuebrigade.org/adopt/adoption-form/
