Lulu's Story

If you've ever wished for a dog who's convinced your lap is the best seat in the house, come meet Lulu. This sweet, clever Lab mix around two to three years old and a healthy forty-five pounds, is a total lovebug. She leans into every hug, curls up close for evening cuddles, and grins right up at you when she's happy. She is playful, bright-eyed, and absolutely brimming with affection for the people she loves.

Lulu found us before we found her, wandering into our neighborhood one afternoon and settling in as if she was hoping someone would finally notice her. A kind neighbor and I did and in no time she blossomed into the joyful, tail-wagging companion she was always meant to be. She likely never had a family of her own before, which makes watching her soak up love now all the more heartwarming.
She's wonderfully smart. The kind of dog who watches, learns, and figures things out fast. She's already mastered "sit," she's learning her name, and she has an incredible nose that can sniff out a treat from clear across the yard. She's picking up good habits from our other dogs as well, happily lounging beside them outdoors and jumping in when it's time to play.

And play she does! Lulu is just discovering toys for the very first time, and she goes at them with pure delight, hopping around the grass like a little kangaroo in a way that will have you laughing out loud. She's got happy zoomies, a curious spirit, and an enormous soft spot for children; kids bring out her most giddy, wiggly, playful self.

But affection is really Lulu's love language. She's a leaner and a snuggler who wants to be right by her person's side, resting her head in your lap of an evening, padding after you from room to room, and melting into every scratch and belly rub she can get. Give this girl a cozy blanket indoors, a favorite shady spot in the yard, and someone to love, and she is one contented, happy dog.

Lulu thrives on kindness. She responds beautifully to positive, reward-based encouragement, and a little consistency brings out her best. She's crate trained and settles happily in her crate, she's fully potty trained, and she rides in the car without getting sick. Like a lot of rescues, she's still polishing a couple of skills, learning to walk politely on leash and to keep all four paws down when excitement takes over and she likes a moment to warm up to brand-new people before deciding you're a friend, which never takes her long. A securely fenced yard gives her room to run and burn off her happy energy while she masters the leash.

Lulu currently shares her home happily with other dogs and does great with playmates her size or smaller.

Her ideal family is an active person, couple, or household who'd love to bring her along on hikes, runs, and backyard adventures and who'll happily return all the affection she so freely gives. A securely fenced yard is a must so she can run and play safely. Whether her future is a lively home full of kids or a quieter one with a devoted companion, what Lulu wants most is simple: her people, close by, for keeps.

Lulu has already shown us how bright, affectionate, and eager to love she truly is. She's ready to give her whole heart to the right family — and she is going to make someone incredibly lucky.
