Lulu's Story

Meet Lulu 🐾
Age: 9 years | Breed: Chihuahua | Location: Seattle area

Lulu is a tiny old lady with a big personality and even bigger opinions--especially when it comes to food! 🍞 After settling into her foster home and recovering beautifully from a dental cleaning (she had 7 extractions and feels so much better now), Lulu has started to let her sweet, silly side shine.

She's food-motivated to the max--soft bread is her love language--and she'll dance, whine, bark, and even give gentle smacks with her tiny paws to remind you she's ready for a snack. Her food drive makes her a hoot to watch, but also means she does best eating separately from other dogs and under a watchful eye.

Once nervous and reserved, Lulu now enjoys sitting beside her humans--or even on their laps--and she's happiest when she's snuggled up on a fuzzy blanket. She coexists well with the older small dogs in her foster home, though she'd also be perfectly content as an only dog. She may not be a great fit with very young kids or high-energy pups, but a calm household with dog-savvy teens or adults would be ideal.

Lulu is mostly a chill girl who naps much of the day but has bursts of funny, puppy-like energy. She walks on leash, though she has some strong opinions about weather conditions--rain, cold, or wind are met with refusal and strategic "driveway pottying" to make a speedy return indoors 😅.

She's still working on potty training. Progress has been steady, but she needs a patient adopter who understands that accidents may still happen. Her signals are subtle, and supervision is key. With routine, treats, and warm weather, she continues to improve.

Lulu is a quirky, lovable companion with so much charm to offer. She'll make you laugh, keep you on your toes, and snuggle into your heart if you give her the time and space to trust.

📍 Currently in WA
✈️ Transport available to approved adopters

Wet Noses Rescue's Adoption Policy
First, adopters must fill out our online application at wetnosesrescue.org. If approved, there is a phone interview and virtual home check. We are a shelter based in Punta de Mita, Mexico, and also operate in San Diego. We understand that it can be challenging to meet our animals in person due to the distance. However, we have a process in place to ensure a smooth adoption experience. Most of our animals are located at our shelter in Punta de Mita. We frequently arrange transportation for our animals up the West Coast of the USA (San Francisco, Seattle, etc.) and the Western Provinces of Canada (Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, etc.). To help you get a better sense of the animals, we can offer additional photos, videos, and even schedule video calls. Please see our Google Reviews (https://goo.gl/maps/aDbyG4vW9YWNTs4d7) for some of our adoptive families' experiences. We are a volunteer run organization, and a flight angel would accompany them. This area is a touristy area, and many people like to volunteer in various ways to support the community, and especially support the neglected animals finding good homes. To secure flights, it generally takes us between 1-4 weeks once an animal is ready to go home.
