Luke, I'm all ears!'s Story
Our Mission: Woof Pack Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit working to improve the health, welfare, and safety of Houston's dogs. Our organization was started by one dog mom on a mission to help those animals in need. Our goal is to find loving homes for abandoned, lost, forgotten or mistreated dogs from the streets of Houston and surrounding areas.

Currently being fostered in Houston, Tx with transport available out of state.

The DNA results are in and Luke is part labrador retriever, part american pitbull terrier, and part german shepard, which explains Luke's pointy ears! He is approximately 4 yrs. old. Luke is a very handsome fellow with a very shiny jet black coat , with white on his chest. He has the whitest teeth I've ever seen, a very cute underbite, and very pointy ears, kind of like "Spock" ears.
His story: Luke and his sibling sister, Leia were found roaming a neighborhood, searching for shelter, food and water for 3 weeks before I saw them. Unfortunately, as so many strays in Houston go, neither one was fixed and she was in heat. Every male dog from the area found poor Leia, much to Luke's upset. We left out food and water where we got notification of sightings and finally found them, exhausted and hungry. After we managed to catch them, all of the other dogs disappeared and both of them just ate and slept for days.
Having been their foster for a while now, I've learned his personality. At first, they were very dependent on each other, but as time has gone by, a health issue for me, and then a health issue for Mr. Luke, they have become independent of each other and different personalities. He is such a handsome fellow, but gentle with all sizes of dogs. He is the squirrel watcher! He is very much a cuddle bug, and he is like a weighted blanket if he lays his head on you on the couch, expect to take a nap. He developed a clostridium bacteria after being boarded and then coming back to a yard dug up for piping. It took me about 8 months to get him back to a healthy gut, many vets, vet clinics, different anti biotics, but one vet really helped me try different things until we finally got him past it. I do keep him on Proviable probiotic and stay with a particular food that seems to work well and he has been thriving since. He is happy with a friend or inside with us. And he looks up at us with his amber eyes and melts your heart! He plays rough with his sister so we limit their play time together, but he plays with the other medium or lab size dogs just fine, little dogs, he tries not to step on.
He is:
hw negative
neutered
UTD on all vaccinations
Microchipped
He is good with all the other dogs, small and large, and is gentle around the small dogs.
potty trained, (even is learning about the bells on the door)
crate trained for naps and night night. (all of the dogs are used to crating after they eat to digest)

He likes to dig, chew on nylabones, and lay out in the sun. Luke has the pointiest ears, but only one stands up most of the time. He is a sweetheart and just wants pets and belly rubs and rolling around. He loves his walks too! Since Luke has grown up with a pack, it would be ideal for him to have a fur buddy at his new home, but he does like his special time. I would love for him to have a yard to play in and a home with a cool bed to lay on his back and dream of chasing butterflies with a full belly.
He has a very sweet disposition, is not food aggressive at all, learns very quickly and has gotten used to being separated from his sibling. He is good around dogs of all sizes and does respond to our "dog whistle" if he or any others are playing too ruff.

**Mans Best Friend partners with us for training and boarding and can give additional information on Lukes personality. Once we have an initial chat the rescue will put you in contact with them. Please email us if you are interested in giving our handsome boy a loving home and we will notify MBF to give out info.

**Luke is available to transport to Austin or out of state.
