Luke's Story

Luke came from a rural shelter where he was surrendered. He is 8 yrs old and has been chained most of his life- he has a permanent bald ring around his neck from the chain. Despite that, he is a sweet boy who is learning to be an inside dog. He is learning to calm himself by going into his crate when he feels overwhelmed. He has taken a great liking to his foster dad and will get into his lap to calm himself. Luke will be starting heart worm treatment soon and will be available at the end of the treatment. He needs a 6 ft privacy fenced and a family with older respectful kids as he can be too much for little ones when he gets the zoomies. We don't think he would be good with cats because he shows too much interest in those outside. He needs a family who is willing to be patient with him and show him what a loving family is and one who will always take good care of him. If you are looking for a sweet boy who desperately wants to be part of someone's family and are willing to be patient and love him unconditionally, please contact Rainbow Rescue at : rainbowanimalrescueva@gmail.com or call at 757-472-1583

ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS 1. Our adoptions are not first-come, first-served. Adoptions are based on what is best for the individual animal. Adoptions are $150.00 for dogs over 7 months and $175.00 for puppies 7 months and under, which includes all vaccinations, spay/neuter as required, and microchipping. 2. We do vet checks, reference checks, and home checks as well as background checks for pit bulls and pit mixes. 3. We do not have our own facility and must rely on a few fosters to keep the rescued animals until we can get them adopted. 4. Our animals are inside family members and are not to be left alone outside. 5. We try very hard to have the animals socialized so they can become loving family members. 6. Many of our animals have been abandoned, abused, etc. and must have families that will be patient and give the animal time to adjust. 7. Any animal that does not work out for whatever reason must be returned to a member of Rainbow Animal Rescue. They cannot be turned over to Animal Control, SPCA, etc. 8. If you want to complete an application, click on the Adoption Application link, save the file to your desktop, complete it, save it again, and send it to rainbowanimalrescue@cox.net as an e-mail attachment. 9.
