Luke's Story
LUKE IS STILL WAITING FOR HIS HAPPILY EVER AFTER!!!!!!

Luke is a sweet resilient pup with a heart full of love and a story that tugs at yours. This beautiful boy is blind, and while the world may look different to him, he is just as capable of forming deep, meaningful connections with his family. What Luke needs right now is time to decompress, time to feel safe, and time to learn that he is in his home for good.

Luke is 2.5 years old and is your typical lab. He has the most beautiful silvery coat and it's so soft. He is neutered and up to date on all his vaccines. Luke is also crate trained. As you can see in his photos and videos, Luke has some limb deformity in his front legs. It does not slow him down. He also has some arthritis in those legs due to the deformity and will need supplements daily for the rest of his life.

Luke prefers the canine or human type of company. We will not accept applications with families with cats.

Like many dogs with sensory differences Luke navigates the world through scent, sound and touch. New environments can be overwhelming to him at first. As you can imagine being caught off guard can be scary to him at times, so he needs someone that understands that and works with him to let him know what is in front of him or encountering him. He’s very smart and picks up these cues quickly if they are done correctly. Once Luke begins to feel secure, you’ll see his gentle but playful spirit emerge- curious and eager to bond.

The ideal home would be a quiet and stable home without a lot of loud noises and sudden changes to the environment. Another friendly confident dog could help show Luke the ropes, but it is not required. What matters most is a loving family who can give him reassurance and kindness.

Whether it’s snuggling on the couch, enjoying a predictable walk, or simply relaxing with his bone in a safe place, Luke is ready to start a new chapter- one filled with love, understanding and patience.

To be considered a possible match for Luke, the first step is the adoption application which you can find here: https://jlrrescue.org/adoption-application/

Our coverage/adoption area is within 1 hour of Warrington, Bucks County, PA which means if you’re more than an hour away you won’t be considered. We’re a small rescue with limited volunteers and we like to be available to our adopters for support so please respect that.

If you have any questions about Luke, please reach out to us by email at info@jaxslabrescue.org

Jax’s Labrador Retriever Rescue
PO Box 214, Warrington, PA 18976
PA Kennel License #18059

We rescued Luke from the Monmouth County SPCA in NJ
