Ludwig's Story

Ludwig is a 12 year old Chihuahua with no sight, no hearing, and a personality that fills the room. He experiences life through touch, scent, and pure determination, and he approaches it all with enthusiasm. He is 15 pounds of loyalty, curiosity, and just the right amount of spice

When meeting someone new, Ludwig can become overstimulated at first. There is a lot for him to take in. Give him a little time and patience, and once he connects, he connects deeply. When he chooses you, you are his person. He bonds hard and thrives with someone who can read his cues and allow him space to settle.

He is very much a Velcro dog. Not in a nonstop cuddling way, but in a “being near you makes me feel safe” way. If you move, he moves. Staying close helps him feel grounded and keeps his world steady. He is not overly snuggly, yet proximity means everything. His favorite chew toys include tennis balls, his Benebone, and occasionally a human hand. He will do best with someone who understands that gentle redirection is part of loving a dog who explores the world with his whole face.

Ludwig does well with other dogs and enjoys having a calm canine companion nearby. He is playful, expressive, and curious, and he benefits from kind guidance and predictable routines.

Ludwig is not searching for just any home. He is waiting for his person. Someone patient, steady, and ready to be cherished by a senior dog whose heart is far bigger than his tiny frame.

Perfectly Imperfect Pups's Adoption Policy
Once we receive your application an adoption counselor will take a look and reach out with any questions. The team will check personal, vet references and check with your landlord if applicable. Your adoption counselor will then set up a time to talk with you and your family (or anyone else involved in the adoption process in your home). This call is a good time to ask any questions you have. Once your application is approved, you will be connected with the foster of the PIP(s) you are interested in. From start to finish, this process can take anywhere from a few days to over a week (so please be patient!). If everything goes well and you and the foster agree that the PIP you want to adopt is a good fit, we will then finalize the adoption.

Our Mission
PIPs key focus is dogs with special or medical needs (who we call Pip-abled), however, we have many non-PIP-abled dogs too! We made it easy to decipher PIP-abled verses non-PIP-able; simply look at each dogs picture and bio. The Pioneers had a vision to take in the most urgent rescues no one else could which includes p...
