Lucy (Monroe, OR)'s Story

Lucy is a young adult cattle dog with the softest heart and the gentlest soul. She enjoys peaceful days, cozy naps, and quality time with her humans.

Lucy came from a hoarding situation and spent her early life living outdoors, missing out on the safety, structure, and kindness every dog deserves. Because of this, many “normal” dog experiences are still brand new to her, and she’s learning how the world works one step at a time.

Lucy is shy and can be nervous in new situations, but her sensitivity only highlights how incredibly sweet she is. Given what she’s been through, it’s clear she was not treated kindly - yet despite that, Lucy’s capacity for love is remarkable. Once she bonds with a safe, patient human, she becomes deeply loyal and devoted. She loves to snuggle, nap on the couch, and quietly follow her person from room to room, just happy to be near someone she trusts.

Lucy is dog friendly, but needs slow, thoughtful introductions and time to build trust with new canine friends. Lucy does best with calm dogs who respect her space. She is also good with children who are gentle, quieter, and understand how to let her approach on her own terms. Lucy has not been introduced to cats yet, but her calm demeanor suggests she would do well with proper introductions.

Lucy is crate trained, potty trained, and currently learning basic obedience. Car rides still make her nervous, but she is making steady progress in her foster home with patience and reassurance.

Lucy is looking for a compassionate, understanding home that will move at her pace and continue to show her that she is finally safe. In return, she will give you a level of sweetness and loyalty that can only come from a dog who truly understands how precious kindness is.

Lucy is spayed, microchipped and has received age-appropriate core vaccines. Lucy is being fostered in Corvallis, OR area (Monroe, OR) and her adoption fee is $390.
