Lucy's Story

Lucy came to us after a friend of the previous owner raised a flag of concern. 1.5 year old Lucy was very thin and never let out if the crate. She convinced her friend to surrender. We were contacted. We knew immediately that there was something wrong. Lucy was skin and bones and only 20#. She had been to the vet in March and was only 24#. Whatever was going on had been going on for months.

It turned out that Lucy needed emergency surgery. It’s thought that she wasn’t fed so she ate items to quiet her aching, hungry belly. During surgery over 30 household items were removed from her stomach and intestines. Lucy is now happy and learning how to be a dog!

She is all if 35# and very small statured from malnutrition as a puppy. She’s at her ideal weight for her bone structure. She does take just a few minutes to warm up but once she does, you have a best friend avd shadow for life! This girl is the definition of loyal and loving. Lucy never got that type of attention in her former home and now, has all the feel goods to give and receive! Lucy lived with another dog at her former house and at her foster home. She also has give to dog daycare and is just a delight! She would be fine with other dogs or on her own but would adore a playmate. She did have a UTI when we got her but she is now clear of that. Lucy has had minimal accidents in the house since her infection was treated. This girl is a gem and so very deserving of a full and happy life.

Lucy is spayed, vaccinated, chipped and on preventives. She has a negative fecal as well as negative heartworm test. Her adoption fee is sponsored.
