Lucy - Adorable, Tiny Beagle!'s Story

82 Beagles. That's how many were seized from ONE property recently, along with other animals to bring the total up to 100.

Being a foster-based rescue, we are limited in how much we can help by how many willing fosters we have. In this case, we had only one, and they were willing to take 2 of these poor, neglected souls.

We were among the first to see all the beagles at the shelter, and we had our pick of which 2 we would take. Let me tell you, it wasn't easy!!!

Despite these poor dogs having lived their lives locked up in airline crates, Every. Single. One. was nothing but sweet and loving as we passed by each cage with breaking hearts, sad that we could only take 2, and thinking about what they had been through....

But we had to make a choice, and if I may say so myself we did an excellent job!! 8 year old Lucy and her 8 year old "sister" (maybe they really are!) Lola are so charming, sweet, super affectionate, and happy. Not to mention adorable!!

In Lucy's case, we took one look at that little "ring tail" and we knew she was special, in a sea of Beagle tails! Lucy is about 17 lbs, and loves to explore outside, putting her little Beagle nose to work!! She is also a huge fan of snuggling in laps, and her doggy friends! She is learning to play with toys and enjoying that quite a bit as well!

Lucy & Lola would love to stay together, but we also think they'd be fine with another dog in the house (if you can somehow resist 2!!)

Both girls are scheduled to be spayed and will also get dentals, all at the Rescue's expense. They are available to go home before all of that, as long as you are able to get them to their appts!

We prefer a secure fenced yard for our little Beagle girls, as their noses can get the best of them if they get to sniffing, and lead them right out of your yard if they were to slip out!

Please also understand that given the way these poor dogs were living for their entire lives, they were never housetrained. That is being worked on in their wonderful foster home, but they will likely need patience, consistency, and a schedule to get them there!

They do have a kitty in the house who keeps his distance, so we're not 100% sure how they would be with cats... so far they don't seem to care when they've had a glimpse, but are definitely interested in the cat food!! And every other kind of food!! Lol

If you are interested in one or both of these cutie pies, please copy and paste the link to our adoption application into your browser, and submit!

https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/GARP/Dog

Please also follow us on Facebook to keep up with all our Pals, upcoming events, and announcements!

https://www.facebook.com/share/ahFTecYpLt3bLPkf/?mibextid=qi2Omg

Rescue Pals, Inc.'s Adoption Policy
Thank you for your interest in one of our Pals! Our adoption fees for dogs are: Puppies up to 1 Year Old : $400 Adult Dogs 1 - 9 Years : $350 Senior Dogs 10 - 12 Years : $300 Super Senior Dogs 12 + Years : $150 Kittens up to 1 Year Old : $125 Adult Cats 1 - 12 Years : $95 Senior Cats 12 + Years : $75 If multiple cats/kittens are adopted to the same home at the same time, each kitty after the first (youngest) will have their fee reduced by $25. All dogs and cats are or will be: spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and on flea/tick/heartworm prevention. Here is our adoption process: Applicants must be at least 21 years of age. Applicants must be ready for a new pet to come home immediately after the entire adoption process is complete and approved. We are not able to hold animals if you have travel coming up, etc., so please be prepared to make arrangements for your new pet if that is the case. After submitting an application, your information will be reviewed and a vet check will be done for your current and past pets (going back 5 years). Your pets should be spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccines, and on heartworm prevention. Veterinary medical exceptions will be taken into consideration for any of those items. If you and the pet you are applying for seem like a great fit, a member of our adoption team will contact you for a telephone interview. After that, a home check will be done, and then a meet and greet (maybe at the same time!). If all is well and everyone agrees that this is the right new family member for you, the adoption can be finalized at that time! Please note that we are an all-volunteer organization, and in some cases when multiple applications come in for the same pet we may not be able to respond to each applicant. If a pet no longer appears on Petfinder, it means he or she has been adopted. Applying for a pet does not place that animal on hold, or guarantee approval. Our goal is to make the very best match that will last a lifetime for the pet, so we hope everyone can understand and appreciate that. If your application is approved through 1st review and vet check, but we don't feel that the pet you're interested in is the right fit, we may suggest another who we feel would be a better fit for your lifestyle/what you're looking for. Thank you so much again for your interest in adopting a Pal, and helping us save lives!
