Lucy's Story

Please read entire description. Lucy's adoption fee is $200. If interested, please complete an application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. If the ad is still visible, we are still accepting applications. No phone calls.

Lucy is a 1-year-old, 60-pound Labradoodle with a heart as fluffy as her coat. Rescued from an Amish breeding operation as a puppy, Lucy has spent the past year growing up in a home with children and cats, and she's done well with the other dogs she's met. She's crate trained, house trained, and knows several commands. She loves car rides, daily walks, and has only ever lived with the comfort of a fenced yard.

Lucy is affectionate, social, and greets new people—men and women alike—with ease. She's also a champ when it comes to baths, grooming, and nail trims. One thing potential adopters should be aware of is that Lucy can occasionally show some possessiveness over items she finds outside, like sticks or bits of trash. This behavior has not involved guarding food, toys, or space, and she has never bitten. Her current family has consulted a trainer and feels this behavior may be influenced by dynamics in the home—particularly with one adult who is less confident in handling and has found it challenging to set clear boundaries. Lucy seems to respond best to calm, assertive direction and may thrive in a home where her people are comfortable being consistent leaders. With the right structure and guidance, Lucy has every potential to continue being the happy, loving, and well-mannered companion she already is in so many ways.

Lucy is spayed, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and heartworm negative. If interested in adopting Lucy, please complete an application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. One application works for all of our dogs. Lucy's adoption fee is $200.
