Lucky Girl's Story

Lucky Girl has a heart of gold. If you spend less than a minute earning her trust, she will melt at your feet
and offer you her endless love. She a good listener, fast learner, and bonds quickly. She’s loves kids and
feeds off their energy. She’s respectful to other dogs, but may or may not be comfortable romping
around with them.
In general, she’s a little insecure. She needs to approach people and other dogs on her own
terms—which means she needs a strong human leader to be her voice and ask strangers to let her
approach, smell their shoes, and offer her a treat before reaching out to pet her. It’s a 30 second
greeting process that makes her feel comfortable, and diminishes the insecurity that makes her feel like
she has to protect herself. She will not do well in situations where stranger introductions are not
managed—she will bark, growl and get snappy if the stranger approaches her on their terms vs. letting
her approach on her terms. After meeting a person 1-2 times on her terms, they are no longer a
stranger—they are now in her inner circle of trust and can interact with her immediately.
To ensure that Lucky Girl finds the right forever home, we will be selective in our “human criteria” and
her dog trainer is offering free “transition training” sessions to be conducted within the first two weeks
of her FTA (foster to adopt) trial period.
My Best Qualities:
? Loves to snuggle
? Wants to please
? Easily trainable (know basic training commands—sit, down, stay, focus, come, leave it)
? Potty trained!
? Crate trained!
? Calm inside
? Minimal separation anxiety
? Loves the woods and outdoor adventures
? Great with kids
