LUCKY's Story
Lucky (A139545) is an 11-month-old Labrador x AK Husky mix who weighed 54.6 pounds on intake! Lucky is looking for a foster-to-adopt as she recovers from FHO surgery. 02/02/26 This lovely lady is Lucky, who, sadly, was not so lucky. Lucky was surrendered to the shelter after she was hit by a car. Lucky was known to be an escape artist, and it is critical that her next owner keep her safely contained on a leash, secure tie-out, or supervised in a fenced-in yard. Lucky is on strict care instructions after her FHO (Femoral Head Osteotomy) surgery. She needs to remain on strict kennel rest for 12-14 days (Feb 11th). After kennel rest, she still has a long road to recovery with physical therapy. She needs to be given only short bathroom breaks (5-10 minutes) on a leash. During recovery, she should not have interactions with other dogs. However, it is important to note that Lucky is dog-friendly and did previously live with dogs! Lucky’s incision also needs to remain dry and clean – no baths. She is sporting an awesome e-collar to keep her from licking. Making sure you follow her recovery and physical therapy plan is very important to help her while she heals. It is not uncommon for dogs not to bear weight for the first couple of weeks of recovery. As for her personality, she is quite a happy girl. She wags her tail and is always cheerful to see the staff. We do not know her experience level with children. Please ensure you are making appropriate introductions after she is done with recovery. If you are interested in fostering Lucky and helping her through her recovery, please let us know!
