Lucky's Story

Lucky was just over a year old when he was first surrendered because his owner could not keep him in their apartment. He spent 70 days in the shelter before being adopted locally, where he lived a peaceful, happy life, often seen sunbathing on the porch with his fur-sister.

After his owner passed away, his fur-sister also passed due to age-related issues, and Lucky found himself back at the shelter. He’s understandably confused and struggling with the transition. He’s had two homes and has now experienced the shelter twice—we would really love for his next home to be his last. He has been at the shelter since December.

Before returning to us, Lucky spent most of his time napping in his dog bed or soaking up the sun. While he enjoys daily walks, he’s low to medium energy and is perfectly content just relaxing at home or in the yard. He is an easy dog to care for and thrives in a calm environment.

Lucky is incredibly clean in his kennel and never has accidents, making him a great candidate for a home. He is also non-destructive and well-mannered. While he may appear rowdy or vocal when strangers pass by his kennel, this is just stress and not an accurate reflection of his true personality. Outside of the kennel, he is quiet, calm, and gentle.

He previously lived with an older female dog he adored, so he may do well with another dog. He enjoys car rides, likes to play from time to time (but is not rough), and is happiest simply spending time with his people—especially if there’s a sunny spot to lay in.

Lucky is around 5 years old, neutered, and up to date on vaccinations. He does have polymyositis, an inflammatory muscle condition that is managed with pain medication. With continued care, he is expected to live a normal, happy life. He takes a pill every other day, and he is doing fantastic on them. He also had x-rays done which showed a perfect and healthy heart, lungs, and stomach.

If you’re interested in meeting Lucky, we strongly encourage asking to meet him outside of the kennel so you can see his true personality. He’s a sweet, easygoing boy who has already proven he knows how to be a wonderful companion—he just needs someone willing to give him that chance again.
