Lucky's Story

Lucky / M / 10Y / 83lbs / German Shepherd / Fostered in Owen Sound

Lucky is a gentle, well-mannered boy who is so easy to love, and he's ready to find his forever home! He is a mid-energy guy who's happy to relax on his mat much of the day, but he also loves his walks, and he loves chasing his ball. And food? Lucky LOVES his food and treats!

Lucky is fully potty trained, with not a single accident in a brand new home. He doesn't need a crate and is completely trustworthy when left home alone. He's done great for 3 to 4 hours at a time, and honestly could probably go longer. He has never shown any interest in stealing food or counter-surfing, and there is nothing he guards. He also rides well in the car!

Lucky walks beautifully. He doesn't pull, and he's friendly with everyone he meets. He greets most dogs with a polite sniff and does just fine. Once in a very great while there's a little reaction, usually when the other dog starts it first! He walks right past kids, and welcomes pets. He has only once shown interest in a chipmunk, and he was easily redirected. He does well on three short walks (10 to 15 minutes) each day plus one longer walk of about an hour.

Lucky isn't a big cuddler, but he happily accepts hugs and kisses and absolutely loves being brushed and petted. He is so gentle and well behaved. He still has a bit of anxiety as he settles in, and we can tell his true personality (and maybe even his bark!) will shine as he gets more comfortable. He is currently on trazodone and gabapentin for anxiety but is weaning off of them.

His Ideal Home
- Someone who is home a good amount of the time
- A fenced backyard would be great, or an adopter who can commit to a good daily walk
- A mid to large sized dog sibling would be a bonus
- No cats

If you're looking for a sweet, calm, loyal companion who is truly easy to love, Lucky might just be your guy! Please complete an adoption application on our website.
