Lucky's Story

Our recent arrival Lucky is recovering well from his neuter surgery after a bumpy start where he had significant swelling and some discomfort. Tipping the scales at 90 pounds, he needs to put on some weight under that stunning plush coat. He's getting good food, supplements to help with dander and can't wait to be cleared for a bath to shed the old life.

Lucky loves to be brushed, get head, and ear rubs which means the meds to treat his ear infections are working. He's not fond of cats, intrigued way too much by squirrels on his walks as most shepherds. He meets dogs easily but will back off if they are pushy, totally into his people over dogs. As an outdoor dog in his previous life, he's intimidated by staircases and chooses to stay on the main floor, settling at the bottom of the stairs when his foster dad retires upstairs at night time. Otherwise, Lucky's a shadow of his foster dad, seeking to be together.

Not fond of the crate, Lucky has proven to be house trustworthy at home when his foster has run errands and at nights uncrated. Lucky rides well in the car.

After the initial start of the walk or when he sees something that excites him, Lucky hits his stride about the 1-mile mark with good leash manners. He needs to gain some muscle tone, tiring quickly. We understand that he lived with another dog and kids in his previous life, so we're expanding on that knowledge while he's in our care. Lucky hasn't been introduced to kids yet.

Interested? We'd love to hear from you if you have shepherd experience, commitment to providing structure, exercise, and on-going training for Lucky to thrive as an indoor dog in his furever home.
