Luca is a blue-nose, male Pittie (born 3/6/22). He is the sweetest boy who is looking for a place to call home! He's very good about going potty outside. No separation anxiety for this guy, he actually kind of enjoys his time alone!<br/><br/>PERSONALITY -- Luca is a little shy at first and he can get along with another dog, but he will good, slow introductions to new dog friends. He would like to have a buddy about his size and close in energy level. <br/><br/>FOOD/TREATS -- He loves his food and high value chews. Luca absolutely CANNOT be fed with another animal. He resource guards food and treats, even against people. The best way to feed him is to put his food down and walk away.<br/><br/>THE PERFECT HOME <br/><br/><br/> Only pet<br/> Quiet, easy-going house<br/> 1-3 people who have patience and understand a dog like Luca<br/> Must live within a 50 mile radius of Omaha/Council Bluffs to continue working with the trainer<br/> Kids over age 12<br/><br/><br/>Luca needs a home that will provide a calm environment, consistency and continual positive reinforcement training. He would be good in a home with older children that respect his space when he needs it. <br/><br/>Luca is selective due to fear, which turns into anxiety, which turns into reactivity. His kennel has become his safe space, but he is not fed in the kennel due to the experience he had in his first home. That experience has led to barrier reactivity and it escalates the resource guarding.<br/><br/>If you have experience with a dog like Luca, please consider applying to adopt. He is such a sweetheart!<br/><br/> <br/><br/>The suggested adoption donation for Luca is $250. Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization which means that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2020 alone, we were able to provide animal Healthcare costing over $241,000 covered mainly through adoption fees.<br/><br/>Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application is approved, we will put you in touch with the animal's foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. <br/><br/> <br/><br/><br/> Before applying to adopt Blue, you need to be familiar with your local breed-specific legislation regarding Pit Bulls. Applicants must live within 50 miles of the Omaha/Council Bluffs area.<br/><br/><br/>Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal's needs.
